This page describes a few of the ideas we have found to work for us, feel free to use them in training your own dogs!

As we mentioned in our welcoming page, we are a family of herders, and as such we each have our own "favorite" dog. We have found that concentrating on traning only one or two dogs at a time per person is a better idea than regularly swapping dogs between handlers. Each person forms a unique bond with his/her dog, and this really enchances the training experience. We use the dogs for all the sheepwork on the farm, each dog to his/her capability. There is no real difference in training a dog or a bitch, both work equally hard, and are equally easy to train.
